When the Wall Street Journal talks about the insurance software industry, I get excited. When they praise the ways digital insurance platforms are helping insurers change the way they do business, I do a really great victory dance. They’re calling attention to the disruption we’re bringing to an industry facing immense pressure.
While the insurance industry is often characterized as less than innovative, the implementations we’re involved in are exciting for both our clients and our developers. It’s cutting edge, it’s shaping digital insurance, and it’s relieving some of the financial pressure placed on this industry. Helping insurance companies to price more accurately, select risk with better information, and control costs while scaling are just some of the benefits our solutions provide.
Back to the Wall Street Journal. These were my favorite phrases that, while not entirely accurate, do speak to how we are improving the lives of insurance professionals across the policy lifecycle and claims process.
“This is the type of grunt work ripe for disruption.“ – Wall Street Journal, Feb. 14, 2024
Let’s address ‘grunt’ work. Manual processes may now be viewed by the digitally native as ‘grunt’ work. Though it remains vital work, we can make it easier – and that is disruptive. At Cogitate, our digital insurance solutions are automating and streamlining submissions, underwriting and claims tasks. These once required manual forms and re-keying of information into multiple systems, which is not sustainable, nor desirable. The modern insurance platform is comprised of workflows, automation, AI and integrations with data and solutions to support insurance professionals, removing the ‘grunt’ and making the work people do more meaningful.
“It often takes more than a year to launch new insurance products…“ – Wall Street Journal, Feb. 14, 2024
This statement is still true for many insurance companies operating on legacy systems that lack agility. With cloud-native, microservices architecture, launching an additional product line is accelerated to meet changing market conditions. More importantly, with configuration tools business users can make their own changes to products to address changing market conditions in minutes. This has been a passion of our co-founder Arvind Kaushal who addresses this in our eBook, 3+ Keys to Proactive Underwriting. We continue to expand those tools to speed the work of business users – and our own developers.
